Carpenter Ants

Carpenter ants require special treatment and each home should be
inspected in order to custom formulate a program designed to their
specific needs. We really need to see the property for an accurate
estimate.

PREPARATION: Technician will give preparation instructions when
estimate is given. If no estimate is given, empty all lower
cupboards (cupboards below countertop) in kitchen and anywhere else
ants have been sighted. For outdoor treatments, bring pets inside
and close doors and windows for 1-2 hours.

DURING TREATMENT: For indoor treatments all occupants and pets must
vacate the premises for a minimum of four (4) hours.

AFTERCARE: Do not wash or wipe treated areas when replacing utensils
and foodstuffs. Expect increased activity for the first 7-10 days
after treatment. If still seeing clusters of ants after two (2)
weeks, call for a follow-up.

ESTIMATED TIME TO DO TREATMENT: 2-3 hours

FOLLOW UP: As necessary during warranty period at no additional charge.

CHEMICALS/TREATMENT USED: (may vary with each residence – custom
program) Drill and dust with Ficam/Drione dust mix. Microinject with
ULD BP100. Outdoor preventive treatment with Dursban Pro. Also may
use Demon WP or PT 230.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: Carpenter ants are wood destroying insects.
Unlike termites, they do not eat the wood, but rather, break it away
to build their nests. They will leave a sawdust residue, which may
not be visible because they do their damage inside walls, doors,
window frames, etc, plus they are nocturnal by nature. Often,
nesting areas will be found in wood that has been damaged by water.
Wet wood attracts carpenter ants because it is easier for them to
break away. Many ants with wings are reproductive carpenter ants.
Such ants mate in the air, drop their wings and return to the nest.
If the customer is seeing carpenter ants with wings, this usually
means that such infestation has been active for at least 3-5 years.
Outdoor preventive treatments are rendered from May 1st to
August 31st. . All renewal customers can expect to receive their
“power sprays” before June 15th. Customers who receive indoor
treatments from September through April are automatically scheduled
for preventive outdoor treatments between May 1st and June 15th.
Customers will receive a postcard informing them their outdoor
treatment has been scheduled. The appointments are scheduled by zip
code.
Please inform the technician if you have edible herb or
vegetable gardens. Treatment will not harm flowers or bushes.
